The Orange Bowl is a competition between one of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s top teams and a wild card team. The concept of the bowl was tied to the Fiesta of the American Tropics, designed to showcase the local blooming of flowers and fruits. The first game was played in 1933 and has been an annual game since 1935. From 1936 through 2002, the Orange Bowl also included the King Orange Jamboree Parade. Originally played at Miami Field, the game changed sites when the Miami Orange Bowl was later built. Since 1996, the current venue the game is played in is at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
